Girly girl

I don't consider myself the most feminine of women when it comes to dolling up. I seriously can get ready faster than the Hubby and often do. My version of looking nice often includes just putting on a pair of earrings, eyeliner, and some lipgloss. All it takes for Hubby to compliment me is to brush my hair loose out of my daily ponytail resulting ih him in praising me that I should "do this more often!"

Lo and behold, my daughter is the girliest of girls. You'll often find her wearing a purse, putting on boots, putting on a necklace or bracelet, or scrounging around someone else's purse for chapstick or lipstick. When she sees a pretty dress, she'll carress it and exclaim "Wow! That's nice!" She's been picking out her outfits (or at least trying to when I give her a choice) since she was just past 12 months. She'll stare in awe as her Aunties (both my sis and hubby's sis are "girly girls") as they put on make-up or do their hair. It's as engaging to her as Barney!

This past week, I've come home back from work to see that she's been dolled up. A few days ago, I found her nails painted red. I'm guessing this was done by Auntie or Grandma. Yesterday, her hair was curled by Auntie. I can't deny that it's adorable but I'm not sure if I should feel more hesitant about these practices on such a young kid. To her, it's fun. I guess I just don't want her to grow up feeling like she needs to doll up to be pretty. Plus it freaks me out a little to imagine what she'll be like as a pre-teen/teenager. Yikes! =)
